Former Instructor Sheriff Ted Sexton named Director of the Los Angeles Homeland Security Division

Please join us in congratulating Edmund “Ted” Sexton on his new position as Director of the Los Angeles Homeland Security Division – the nation’s largest. He has taught a variety of courses including Introduction to Criminal Justice and Homeland Security for the Department of Criminal Justice.

Director Sexton, who served as assistant secretary for state and local law enforcement at the Department of Homeland Security in 2008 and 2009, was also President of the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) in 2005-06, and he was honored as the Nation’s Outstanding Sheriff of the Year in 2007.

Many students and faculty have benefited from his considerable experience and the dedication and loyalty he has displayed to the University and Department. While we will miss his presence, we are thrilled at the opportunity afforded him.
