DeAndre Fields joins CCJ at UA

DeAndre Fields joined the University of Alabama’s Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice as an Instructor in Fall 2023. He received his M.S. in Criminal Justice and Forensic Science from Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida. He brings over 15 years of experience in law enforcement serving with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (Florida), Department of Juvenile Justice (Florida), and Gwinnett County Juvenile Court (Georgia). Prior organizations that he was a part of included the Florida Association of School Resource Officers, Florida Association of Teen Courts, and Florida Gang Investigator’s Association (FGIA).

 

He is currently a member of the Georgia Gang Investigator’s Association (GGIA) which focuses on collaborating with various law enforcement agencies to eradicate the threat of gangs within Georgia. His focal research interests include gangs, school shootings and school-based violence, serial killers, and juvenile delinquency. At the University of Alabama, he has lectured on Victimology, Survey of Criminal Theories and Juvenile Delinquency to name a few
