Dr. Brittany Gilmer recently contributed to an article “2022’s Most Sinful States in America“, where Adam McCann ranks and compares sinfulness across the United States.
What makes some states more sinful than others? Law? Culture?
This is an exciting and relevant question that my colleague, Dr. Susan Dewey, and I are examining more closely through a study on violent crime and the cultural meaning of guns. We are working with our District Attorney to review case files from violent crimes where guns were present, and following those cases through the legal system to better understand how culture, morals, ethics, and relationships are co-productive of the law-in-action and how society views these crimes.
