Ashley Light graduated with her Master’s of Science from the Department of Criminology & Criminal Justice in December 2017, alongside her Juris Doctorate from The University of Alabama School of Law. After graduation, Ashley joined the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program where she focused on protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities, particularly those involved in the criminal justice system. Since April 2021, Ashley has been at Southern Poverty Law Center for, among other things, the provision of constitutionally adequate mental health care in Alabama’s prisons.
