A.C. Roper

A.C. Roper, a graduate of the Masters Program, is the Chief of the Birmingham Police Department. His extensive law enforcement career began in Montgomery in 1985. In 1988, he returned home to the Birmingham area where he took a position at the Hoover PD. He eventually rose to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police. In November of 2007, he was appointed to his current position.

Chief Roper also holds a Masters Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and has more than thirty years experience in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he serves as a Major General.  He has attended police management and leadership trainings through the FBI National Academy, the FBI National Executive Institute, and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
