In fall 2003, CJSA became active for the first time since 1992. We are continuing to grow with a plethora of support from active members, faculty, and members of the criminal justice community. CJSA, in the past, has hosted guest speakers from the FBI, Alabama Supreme Court, Birmingham Police Department, and other employers. This semester CJSA, along with the Department of Criminal Justice, will be offering such opportunities by hosting a career forum for UA students. This event will allot interested students the opportunity to learn about the variety of career possibilities available to them both within the public and private sectors.
The organization is also planning to visit one of Alabama's maximum security prisons, schedule a weekend field trip to other facilities, will be collaborating with Alpha Phi Sigma to host one of the University's largest career fairs, and will be hosting one of its infamous socials for all current members. CJSA has also always been actively involved with University and city sponsored community service projects and we plan to continue that tradition this semester. CJSA is open to all University students who are interested in the field of criminal justice.
