The honorable John England, a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Judicial Circuit, holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Tuskegee Institute. He was among the first African Americans admitted to the UA School of Law, where he earned a law degree in 1974. A former Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, Judge England has held leadership positions in a variety of local and state organizations and is the recipient of numerous awards. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Alabama system. We are fortunate to have Judge England teach Criminal Law I and on occasion Criminal Law II for the department.
